Let's make music!

I’m here to transform your ideas into original music for your project! The music genre I compose is mainly orchestral, which is suitable for cinematics, cartoons or animations, short-films and video games. For that I use virtual sound instruments (VSTi) of high-quality to give a realistic sound to the music.

I have done music for video games, short films, animations, publicity spots, rock/metal bands and more.

If you are looking for original, emotive or epic music composed with a great orchestral/instrumental craftmanship, stop searching because I’m the composer you are looking for!

I’ll be communicating with you during all the process, giving you updates and drafts so you will get the music you need.

Here I'll talk about my workflow
The following information complements the Pricing Plans and services published on Fiverr.

[Step 1] Communication – Every music piece is like a story telling. Tell me about your story so I can transform them into music! All details matter, the tempo (slow, fast, moderate), the character (happy, sad, heroic), the focus or which direction the music should me aimed (maybe you want the music to have focus on a character with some specific profile, or a scenario, or a feeling). The more I know about your intentions, the more precise I will be composing your request. Examples provided of the music you want me to compose will be more than welcome. Communication through all the process of the music composing is very important.

[Step 2] The Draft – Now is time to write some music! This is the place where your ideas will start to be transformed into sounds and magic will begin to rise majestically, like a whale in the arctic. First, I’ll start writing the music score in Sibelius (Fullscore sheet), which is a music notation software often used by the most professional music composers and many other musicians. Then, I will show a draft of the music to know if this is going on its right path. If not, don’t worry! I’ll make the changes needed or even, in a drastic scenario, start a new idea. And check this delicious thing, in this step (also applied on Step 3), which is about starting to develop the main idea into music, revisions won’t count.

[Step 3] The Craftmanship – Following Step 2, now we are on the right path and the definitive musical idea will be developed. As in Step 2, here the corrections and/or revisions won’t count. Important: please note that in Step 2 and Step 3 the exported music/midi file WON’T be in high quality since these Steps are meant to show the draft/progress of the musical progress. This is because is easier and faster to do the corrections or changes in the score rather than in the sound tracks with all the EQ and plugins on it. If you desire to have idea of how it might sound in those Steps, please listen my Clarinet concerto No.1, Mov. 2. In the case that the music is required to be singed, the singer will record its voice on this same file as a manner to show how, more or less, how will sound.

[Step 4] Music production and makeup – This step takes place after the full music has been written from start to end. Here the midi file will be worked in Cubase 10 Pro and transformed into a high-quality audio track. All the processes of EQ, mixing, balancing along with the use of virtual instruments (VSTi) will be done here. In this step, revisions will count! So before going into this step I recommend you to make all possible revisions and corrections on Step 2 or Step 3, since revisions or corrections don’t count there.

Do you need a musician to play and record the composed music with real instruments?

Do you need a real musician to play real music instruments? – As a professional music composer that has worked, conducted, arranged or collaborated with many orchestra musicians, I have the possibility to call almost any orchestra music player to record real instruments. So, if you feel that your music needs the touch of a real violinist, flutist, clarinetist, pianist, cellist, or others like drum player, bass player, guitar player, etc. just say it!

This is an additional service I provide. Rates or fees applied for this service might vary according to the instrument type and/or other aspects that this service might require since includes third parties to be involved. Real musicians will be recorded in a professional studio suited for that: Light Beer Records.

All the process related to the recording of musicians will be in hands of professional sound engineer José Luis Valero Padilla, owner of that studio.

What is Mastering Audio and what is good about that?

Do you work alone or are other people you work with?

Regarding music writing, arranging, sound production or all the things evolving the music creativity/composition I do all by myself. I’m a dedicated music composer, and to understand all matters of music composition, orchestration/instrumentation or anything related to the music theory are my strongest skills.

I might work along two professional and dedicated sound engineers, with great experience behind them, only when they will be needed so the client can have the highest music quality possible. Sound engineer José Luis Valero Padilla, owner of the Light Beer Records, will professionally record the musicians (if real musicians are requested by the client). Mastering engineer Jaime Cavazos will be in charge of mastering the track (if requested by the client). Their services are only needed in special cases that evolves mastering and, in some cases, mixing real instruments with virtual orchestral tracks.  These third-party services have additional cost. To know their fees please refer to “FAQ/ Do you do mix and mastering?” and “FAQ/ Requesting a real musician. How can I request it and which are the fees?”.

Requesting a real musician. How can I request it and which are the fees?

Just tell me you want a real musician to play the music and which instrument you desire to tell you the additional fees. Recording a real instrument involves two main things. 1) The musician who is going to record the music; 2) The equipment to record the musician’s sound with the highest quality possible. For the first, the musician’s fee is not fixed, since is the musician himself who sets the price, but costs are around $20 to $40 dollars depending on the hired musician. For the second, the recording of a real musician will be done at Light Beer Records by sound engineer José Luis Valero. His fees are fixed; for the first musician is $70; for the second, third, fourth, etc., will be $20. So, the fee will be calculated as follows:

1st musician (if requested by client): [Musician’s fee] + [$70 of recording services].

2nd musician (if requested by client): [Musician’s fee] + [$20 recording services].

3rd musician (if requested by client): [Musician’s fee] + [$20 recording services].

etc.

What “Commercial use” means?

You can use the music to generate income. Credits are still required.

[…] the Seller grants you a perpetual, exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide license to use the purchased delivery for Permitted Commercial Purposes. For the avoidance of doubt, the Seller retains all ownership rights.”

How you manage Additional Instrument fee?

About the instruments, within the context of composing with virtual instruments, most of the times I count the instruments as if we were talking about number of musicians. This is because two main reasons: 1) because it makes easier at the moment to create the music sheet parts, and thus easier to play on live (if needed), and; 2) because I do balanced arrangements for each instrument/musician. Duplicated instruments can also be good to find a nice “color” in melodies, make interesting counterpoint or to reinforce some melodic lines. So, for example, if you request a wind trio (2 flutes, 1 bassoon) there are 3 instruments. Strings, regardless the number of players, count as 1 per each section, for example:
18 Violins I = as 1 instrument
14 Violins II = as 1 instrument
10 Violas = as 1 instrument

In the case of orchestral percussions, and to make it easier, for each 3 percussion combinations I’ll be counting 1 instrument. Each combination of 3 can allow just one pitched instrument, for example:
[timpani (pitched instrument) + bass drum + snare] = as 1 instrument
[sleigh bells + cymbal + tubular bells (pitched instrument)] = as 1 instrument
[marimba (pitched instrument) + tambourine + taiko drum] = as 1 instrument

If you are not sure how many instruments request, please feel free to send me a message and I’ll gladly give you orientation!

What will happen if I don’t like the music?

I’ll spam you with questions and communicate with you so much until we’ll be on the same path and you get the music you need. Communication is the First Step before start composing the real thing. For this reason, revisions are unlimited all the way through Step 2 and Step 3 in my workflow (see main description for more information). This is to ensure that the music will meet your expectations.

Can you give me the midi file?

Yes. If you need it just ask for it and I can give it to you for free. Since I compose everything first in music notation software the midi file is always available and ready to be exported.

Let's work together!
Send me a message and I'll reply as soon as possible.
